Since 2015, more than 150,000 asylum seekers in the European Union were unaccompanied children under 18 years old. Currently, there are over 3,000 unaccompanied children in Greece. 2,137 of them remain without appropriate shelter in camps, hot spots, police stations or are homeless.
This unfair situation breaks our hearts and we want to do something about it.
We have been blessed with security, opportunity, health, stamina, and resources to help the children who are not as fortunate and are at risk of being forgotten because of fear.
That is why we have joined the Just Cycling and Just Running challenges. In addition we are launching a 1000km run and cycling challenge in June 2018.
We will be joining forces with our colleagues, who, for the third year, continue a tradition of cycling on the paths of Europe to support unaccompanied minor asylum seekers.
This year 36 participants from 17 countries will ride from Amsterdam to the beautiful city of Leuven in Belgium and back to Amsterdam, a total of 470km in 72 hours. We are also joined by 33 runners who will be running at their home towns, in 10 cities all over Europe, between March and October.
